Playing a match

TournamentMatchInfo.png
  • Click on the Match Details magnifying glass by your next Match to find the details of which seed to play and what lobby password to use
  • Whoever comes first creates the public 2v2 lobby in-game with the specified password and seed
  • Subsequent players join the lobby via browser
  • Seed must not be changed
  • Wait in the lobby until your opponents arrive and start the match

Scheduling the next match

  • Find your next match and opponent and an opportunity to play as soon as possible
  • The matches must be played in order, as displayed on the tournament site - https://challonge.com/linewar23T1
  • An indicative max delay of 12 hours, after sending or receiving a match time proposal, is acceptable in the group stage
  • Two max delays of 8 hours each, after sending or receiving a match time proposal, is acceptable in the finals stage. If 2 such delays have already been utilized, players are expected to show up on a much shorter notice
  • The tournament organizer might issue a walk-over if you fail to show up for a match or consistently delay the start of your matches (as indicated above)

Match results

  • Results will automatically be recorded and accessible to the tournament organizer, no manual actions are required by players
  • Replays will be automatically recorded and stored for each match, no manual action is required by players
  • Replays and results will be publically available to everyone following the event

Match rules

  • All units and structures in the game are allowed
  • All strategies are allowed
  • Do not extend a match longer than necessary - resign when you see little to no chance of winning
  • Players who deliberately delay matches, e.g. by extensive “turtling” and/or building hidden structures to prolong a match, will get disqualified at the discretion of the tournament organizer (see “Reporting”)
  • The base rule is that a disconnected player loses the match. If both players agree, a connection problem can be reported to the tournament organizer and upon confirmation, the match can be replayed if timing allows (see “Reporting” below)

Reporting problems

Any problems encountered during the tournament should be reported in the tournament-problems Discord channel. It will then be handled by a tournament organizer. Examples of such problems are

  • bad sportsmanship, foul language, cheating or extensive prolongment of a match
  • needing to replay a match as mutually agreed upon
  • opponent not showing up for a match or delaying the match start considerably

In-Game Chat

  • Act friendly, no harsh language, and respect your opponent. It is recommended to start a match with a “GL HF” chat message (meaning Good Luck, Have Fun) and end a match with “GG” chat message (meaning Good Game) before resigning.
  • Chat is allowed during matches, but spamming is not tolerated

Over time, prizes may change as Line War grows in popularity. For this first tournament, the prizes are more of a symbolic nature:
